You are legally obligated to test and recertify your equipment
Personal Fall Protection Systems must be certified by a qualified person at least once a year under legislation. Your employer or those in control of work at height can be held responsible if an accident occurs, particularly if the equipment is found to be faulty and/or uncertified (for example, building owners or facility managers who may contract others to work at height).
There is more to inspection and recertification than just checking a box. Based on the type of equipment installed, The work at height Regulations apply to all work at height and regulations may require you or your business to ensure compliance both by certification and by training by a qualified company/person on a regular basis. The frequency of use of the equipment and environment must also be considered so more regular inspections and servicing may be required.
